It struck me, while watching the steam rise off my pan of hot water earlier, that the universe behaves in the same way today as it did 4 billion years ago. Before life even existed in any conscious form. When the earth was busy shaping itself from its own internal pressures. Spewing out toxins and branding itself with molten rock. Change comes…[Read more]

Hello Everyone!
I am delighted to be joining you all from Southern California. Normally, I say “sunny Southern…”, but the wild fires that have been burning here have blotted out the sun for now. Happily, I am at a very safe distance from them for now. I first learned of Amida Shu from an YouTube video back when I was making the transition f…[Read more]

Hi Tristan,
Good to see you. I think doing the thirty days again is a great idea. I love the idea of practice at the same time everyday, but in reality my mood and schedule mean that I end up chanting at different times and in different places, still I think a regular nembutsu practice is a great thing.

A fortunate encounter!
There are a pair of crows who live close by and often graze on the green in front of my house. I noticed a third near them recently and realised it was their youngster. I have never seen a baby crow before or the interaction with the parents. The parents keeping watch and tending to it. Their baby behaved just like a child.…[Read more] -
Dayamay started the topic Deep Nembutsu. in the forum Share your creations 9 months ago
My daily meditation practice has been and continues to be an important and indispensable aspect of the connection that I have with Amida Buddha. It also helps me to find the balance that I need in my mind to process the challenges of a life of faith. Nembutsu is, for me, a meditative practice in its own right. It opens up latent dimensions of my…[Read more]

Just watched Dharmavidya’s talk on solitude. I found it very inspiring and I felt a sense of ease and acceptance because I find myself very much alone these days. Often feeling there is something wrong with this when in fact it can be very useful for the practice. I do go out to work and that’s enough interaction for me. The things people talk…[Read more]

Buzz
Everything has a drone; a buzz; a humming note.
The Earth has a drone, made up of every vibration; every movement in it.
The Universe has a drone; The Cosmos has a drone. Listen.
This drone is Limitless Light – Amida.
I listen, I breathe, I hum, I sing, I vibrate In harmony with the Limitless
And the Limitless vibrates through me –…[Read more]

Do you ever see something so beautiful that you want to take a photo, but you know that there’s no way that the camera can capture the profundity and importance of what you’re experiencing… so you just don’t bother?! This happened to me this morning as I was wondering around the park in Malvern. It was early so I felt comfortable with walking…[Read more]

Seeing things as they really are?
I’ve read this phrase in a few different pieces of Buddhist writing recently. What does it really mean?
When I first read words like this, many years ago, they highlighted the idea of process over static things: Things as they are is the rising and falling of things coming into being and fading away, both in t…[Read more]

I love this idea in the New Year. I’m glad you remembered it and posted. I can’t think of a better word for me this year than ‘Listen’. Last year was so busy for me and listening was sometimes not at the forefront of my mind. I think I’ve got sucked in by business into being overly goal orientated, but how can I know the goal if I don’t listen? I…[Read more]
