The holidays aren’t always easy. Maybe we’re approaching difficult anniversaries, feeling pressure on our relationships, or struggling with expectations. Maybe we’re just not feeling it.
I’d like to speak up for a REAL Christmas.
A Christmas where we get how hard it can be to live alongside each other, especially our nearest and dearest, and celebrate any small moments of happy connection.
A Christmas where we honour tradition, and also try to work out what rituals or ways of celebrating or resting work for us.
A Christmas where there is space for the dark alongside the fairy lights, and for disappointment alongside joyful surprises.
A Christmas where we can imagine that we are acceptable, just as we are.
More than anything, a Christmas where we try to be gentle with each other, because we remember how complicated it is to be alive, and our hearts go out to each other.
Sending love and blessings from the temple. The light is always there, even when the night is long. See you on the other side, Namo Amida Bu 🙏
