I am going to be very careful in what i watch. The opening credits of a film i chose on prime video showed hideous scenes of an asian butchers. I only caught a glimpse and managed to turn away quickly, but i knew what was there. This will leave an imprint on my mind for life as many other times have and not very useful just very upsetting. When i…[Read more]

Spending a lazy Sunday with my cats after working quite hard last few days. I was going to a Buddhist celebration day in Devon today but my body just wouldn’t allow it and had to concede. Work has to be done but I do find I am more peaceful during my time off, my practice is regular and stable and no rushing from hear to there. I find the…[Read more]

That’s lovely. I have engaged in Green Tara practice in the past. 24 hour chanting a couple of times which was very special. I wanted a practice that I could do regularly and a Sangha friend introduced me to White Tara, a much shorter practice. I felt I was more likely to practice more if not so long. Strange how the practice has now returned and…[Read more]

I have recently connected with a practice i did regularly some years ago. White Tara. Its short, probably why I chose it. Its very beautiful and peaceful. Amitayus on her crown which of course is another aspect of Amitabha. I feel it compliments the nembutsu some how. Well at the moment anyway and doesnt seem to interfere. I usually struggle with…[Read more]

I listened to a talk by Ajahn Jayasaro earlier about the practice of positive emotion. He talked about using the good that we do as a meditation object that can be particularly beneficial in up lifting the mind. Also how our practice can be going very well then can quickly go the other way leaving us feeling discouraged. He said this path is not a…[Read more]

What do we do when we see a spiders web?. Do we take it down only to deprive the spider of its food?. Or do we leave it there for its catches to suffer terribly?. I say this because when I was sitting outside today I glanced over and saw a long trail of a web with many minute creatures stuck in it. It was attached to the bottom of my conservatory.…[Read more]

    Hi Collin,

Hi Collin, my bonsai tree bit the dust too. Let me know if you get yours to survive and ill try again with another one. They are so lovely. Namo Amida Bu

    • Hi Clare, I’ll let you know how it goes, some experts have told me to keep my bonsai outside as it can survive even in winter. You can kill a bonsai with kindness by over watering, I think that’s how my previous ones died as it rots the roots. Let me know which one you decide to get and I’ll help if I can. Namo Amida Bu

Hello all. Im trying very hard to be more eco friendly. Cant say I see the evidence of that in the super markets. Everything still in plastic. Tescos do give the opportunity to give some of it back to recycle. I managed to buy toilet rolls in paper. Very hard to find and very expensive along with everything that’s eco friendly. Buying loose vege…[Read more]

Reading Dharmavidya’s book the feeling Buddha. Very interesting and a different take on a lot of books ive read over the years. And makes a lot of sense about things I never questioned and is quite logical really. Anyway, highly recommend if you havnt yet. Namo Amida Bu

    • This was the book that introduced me to Dharmavidya, when he went to Wigan to give a talk on it in 1998. It does chime with reality as one experiences it – practical rather that just theoretical. And uplifting, encouraging. I reread frequently.

Having lived through addiction myself life now is experienced in its raw form. Facing reality. Not easy at all. But safer and simpler. I picked up on Amida’s light all those years ago and never looked back. Miracles do happen!
