Thank you for sharing Jeaunice. Lovely poem!

    Hi Jeaunice,
Thanks for your comments. They gave me such confidence which I lack at times. Plus, the Pure Land course is very worth while to do. It helps me maintain my connection with Amida and with the community as not near to the temple. Plus theres contact with a tutor. You can take it at your own pace which is good for me as I suffer with…[Read more]

Half way through the Pure Land course and receiving great benefit and comfort from it. In lesson 10 the subject was on the great Japanese poet Saigo and another one of his very deep and meaningful poems. One of the discussion questions asked to write a poem of our own. I thought I would share mine on here as follows:

    Bombu nature we are

    • Hi Clare,

Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful poem. Within its brevity was so much passion and vivid imagery. Also I appreciate that you shared your experience of the Pure Land course. I am interested in starting the course, and always wondered what it entailed. I love to write poetry, too. I will post a poem in the coming week.

      Namo…[Read more]

Hello all. Have enjoyed reading the posts especially your Indian experience Dayama. Good luck with the vegan pledge jeaunice. It gets easier and interesting making your own dishes. Plenty info on line and most stuff can be bought at super markets these days. 40 – 50 grams protein a day for average person just make sure it’s a complete protein…[Read more]

Hi Satya, I liked your post about veganism. Its a way of life for me now along with the Buddhas teachings and couldnt imagine turning back. Namo Amida BU

Hello all!. I went to a lovely evening last Thursday. The Buddhist group i attend some times had a visiting Monk who lead the evenings practice. I went in with quite a negative miserable state of mind bought on by the usual daily stresses and came out feeling very peaceful, grateful and blessed. Namo Amida Bu

Hello everyone, Change of season time has come round. I always feel quite connected to the change of seasons in some way and quite like it. Lovely to see the rabbits and cats on the pet forum. I will try and upload some pics of my 3 cats who are quite frankly my best friends. They are always there to greet me and show affection even though its…[Read more]

Thanks Satya, Lovely to hear from you. I forgot that moving in is harder than moving out. Yes, as soon as im more settled i would love to visit you all at the Temple again. Just not sure when that will be but definitely in mind so hopefully will create the causes and good karma. Namo Amida Bu

Hello everyone. Its been a long time since i posted anything. I want to stay connected with the community here. Since moving area i have discovered that i had all that i needed already. A big lesson for me. Will try and guard against desire more closely. It reminds me of a teaching i heard once which was titled “Desire is a liar”. Very true! The…[Read more]

    • Good to hear from you Clare. I hope you’re settling in – moving is such a huge thing. Maybe you can plan a visit to the temple when things are more settled! In the meantime we’ll be linked by Amida’s golden thread…

Thanks for your comments Kaspa. All makes sense. Can you expand on how i can apply the middle way to this currant situation. This has been a very big teaching for me and very disturbing at times. Still is!. I hope i can learn from this and maybe from the change will come goodness i hope! Namo Amida Bu

Hi All, Having a very stressful time at the moment. All bought on by desire and delusion. I never bargained that a house move would bring up so many emotions but it has. Its too late now and have to see it through. I can only hope a positive comes out of all this upheaval and upset i have caused. I remember a teaching from a monk named Ajahn…[Read more]

    • A good teaching – but let’s not forget how powerful the conditions we surround ourselves with are. The shadow of ‘make do with what you have’ is that it leaves us in troublesome or unhelpful situations, the shadow of ‘go for it’ is that we never land in contentment. The middle way is best!

Thanks Kaspa, Those words really ring true. I had forgotten the hassle involved in it. nearly there now though so might as well see it through. Not lost sight of refuge but can definitely see how one could get caught up and lost in sensual desires again. This has taken up a lot of mind space. Will be interesting to see what i can learn from…[Read more]

Weird times at the moment. A big move on the horizon. Emotions swinging from excitement to worry. I keep coming back to Amida and his protection which helps reign in my monkey mind. Which is more so at the moment. Guess its all the uncertainty but then thats life anyway i guess. Namo Amida Bu

    • Yes – a big move can be stressful and put us in touch with the reality of how little control we really do have – only the Buddha is true refuge šŸ™‚

Having a lot of mixed emotions arising at present which are changing very quickly. So not sure where i am at the moment. Cant say there’s much contentment either. Im trying to focus on my freedoms to help put things in perspective and just allow the emotions to be but still a struggle. Namo Amida Bu

Had a wonderful walking meditation in my garden yesterday. Have been doing this lately. Just walking slowly up and down the path. Towards the end I found myself slowing even more until slow motion. My body kind of took over at this point and was deciding where and how to move. Felt like i was floating and was very relaxed. Made me realise that…[Read more]

Very hot hear in Kent today as im sure it probably is a lot of places in UK today. Practiced walking meditation in the garden this morning. Helps to feel more present and in touch with nature. Too hot to sit out for me even in the shade so decided to listen/watch some on line teachings. Just about to read through lesson 7 of the Pure Land course…[Read more]

    • Hi Clare I can concur on that one as Iā€™m also in Kent. Bromley: Biggin Hill and it was blisteringley hot. Cleaning windows was no fun ( my job) and at times t e Laurence crossing the Sinai kept springing to mind

Had a wonderful day at Chithurst monastery on Sunday and joined in with the fund raising celebrations. I try and go every year. There was a period when i felt real contentment and peace as we all walked around the monks holding our flower in a ceremony. It made me realise that i am making some progress on the path and not to doubt so much. Namo Amida Bu
