The Buddha teaches that we would suffer due to grasping and clinging to what is pleasurable and avoiding what is not. At the moment I face a strange dilemma, the woman I separated from nearly fourteen years ago and the mother of my children is ill. She may die and this causes me pain. This isn’t due to clinging or grasping to the person more from the memories and not wanting my children to suffer. I know how it feels to say goodbye to your mother.
So another way that we suffer that comes to me is suffering by proxy. I hope you can all send metta at this time. Love to all.
