Really nice morning spent with the Birmingham Sangha. Celebrating ten years of Amida Shu Birmingham. Full of love and compassion from some amazing people.
Blessings to you all

Today I spent hours on an essay to conclude my vow 22 course. Sat down at nine this morning thinking I’d spend an hour on an outline, just to get me started. Looked up from my laptop and it was ten past two, thought gosh Time went quickly. Funny how sometimes you think it’s late and that you e been doing something for hours then realise it’s only…[Read more]

I’m afraid ego took over when there were four people attending my meditation group last night. Did make a foolish being happy though.

On Monday I was asked if I would be the vice chair of the Birmingham council of Faiths. This will also make me the Chair next year, this for me was a great honour. To have been chosen humbled me and I asked and will Continue to ask for Amida to guide me in the path the Buddha has shown me.

Thank you for this. Watching all the suffering around us can be very distressing, this will help me.

Today has been such a pleasure, it’s my eldest granddaughters fifteenth birthday. Time certainly does go so fast, Ashlee, my granddaughter, has grown into such a lovely young woman. She is full of love and compassion and has so much to give. We lived together until a few years ago when my daughter married and moved on. That was such a strange t…[Read more]

Nice to have a few days off work. Continue with my retreat and get some much needed gardening done. Chant nembutsu as I go.

Hello Alex
Welcome to the site, much of what you have said is my experience too. I found Amida and Amida Shu, or perhaps it found me. But it’s everything I was looking for warm friendly acceptance of me just as I am. A foolish being.

The days have started to get warmer and longer. I love the summer months where we have good weather and are able to enjoy nature. I do keep telling myself that I don’t need to cling to this season to be happy, but my mind ignores the advice and insist on feeling low as winter approaches. bombu nature I guess and clinging. I do enjoy the beauty of…[Read more]

My Ojo retreat continues to relax me and helps me to have greater insight into my own life or lifestyle. The second day concentrates on taste, now, I thought “oh okay doesn’t sound great”. As it happens it was really interesting, it had me carry out a number of tasks with food, texture and taste.
What I think was taken away from the day was the r…[Read more] -

Sorry to hear that you have been feeling low, it can be a solitary feeling. Equally good to hear how you allowed Amida to guide you and that this worked. hope you remain well and happy.
