    I wrote this on a bench in Rosebank Gardens, Great Malvern, on the third anniversary of my retreat there.

    It was here, on this empty bench,

    Made empty for me, alone,

    I sang to all the bodhisattva beings,

    Who had crossed to the other shore,

    And who vowed to carry us all

    Along the path they had made –

    Symbolised by Amida Buddha;

    The universe of Love,

    Repeatedly manifesting itself

    To rescue all beings,

    In Great Love.

    Carried by the hymns of the spring birds;

    Carried by the language of wild flowers;

    Carried by the Love of the bodhisattva beings,

    All around me.
