I wrote this hymn this morning following an intensive few nights of dreams triggered by learning Emotional Freedom Technique at the weekend.

    In the seventeenth Vow,

    I listen, silently,

    To all the Buddhas,

    Singing the silent, multitudinous Name.

    In the eighteenth Vow,

I join in with their song.

Some say faith can only be blind

And mortal ears can only hear

The formulations in the scriptures –

    But all mortal beings

    Have outer and inner ears,

    And the heart can hear

    More than syllables alone.

Thank you, Vajrapala. I’m writing lots of hymns about the Nembutsu at the moment as I feel my way, anew, into its depths.

    Namo Amida Bu!
