A busy day at the Whole Food Coop yesterday. On the way there, as I cycled along, I sang a Nembutsu tarana I have written in my mind (taranas come from the Sufi tradition and use sacred syllables to attain unity with the divine – why not substitute the Nembutsu?! – there may be reasons, but I like to experiment and see what happens and in this case the sky didn’t fall down). As I went along and as I got into the day at the Coop it became mental/aural chewing gum, cycling the Nembutsu around in my mind, effortlessly and easily, in the way that the ear-worm of a song on the radio can, but this time, with added sacred syllables. Namo Amida Bu!
