Hi Satya, That sounds nice to me too. The great value of the simplicity in life. Sharing each others company in a peaceful way far outweighs any material gift bought from one of those soulless shopping malls. I dont think ill be visiting one again.

Hello to everyone on this Nembusu Monday. Im starting to notice more and more how disinterested im becoming with mundane worldly chores that have to be done anyway such as going to the shops. I had to do that today and noticed the intense consumerism going on especially this time of year. I notice im starting to put things back that i can do…[Read more]

    • Namo Amida Bu. Our family have decided not to give presents at Christmas this year and it feels like a relief – all that extra ‘stuff’ that nobody really needed. Instead we can enjoy the food and each other’s company!

Hi everyone. Im feeling brighter at the moment. Think ive adjusted now from the clocks changeing. Thats good because it normally takes a bit longer. I seem to get quite effected by it. Very minor suffering though. Reciting Amitabhas name helps with all daily experiences weather good or not so good. I like the expression ‘ All that arises ceases’ .…[Read more]

    • Hi Clare
Pleased to hear you’ve picked up. The onset of the winter does make some of us feel a little low. Maybe we clinge to the summer months light nights and warm weather. And all that arises ceases is a lovely way to remember impermanence and our vulnerability ability as foolish beings. It’s at those times that we should recite Nembutsu and…[Read more]

I have completed the first lesson of The Pure Land course. Enjoying it a lot even though im a bit slow. Always so tired from work but set aside time each week to contemplate the questions and give my response to my kind tutor Susthama. It helps me think a bit deeper and longer on the Buddhas teachings. The answers arnt so immediate, can take a…[Read more]

Hi everyone. Lovely to read the posts on here. Feeling a bit flat at the moment which will pass as everything does. When im tired i find practice hard so i just think of Amitabha which is still the practice. He is always around no matter. Nice to be able to drop in on here and share. Am very grateful for this site. Thank You all. Namo Amida Bu

    • Hi Clare – Namo Amida Bu…Namo Amida Bu…Namo Amida Bu etc 🙂 Think it, whisper it, vocalise it, sing it – no matter how you’re feeling?

      peace, love and light

    • One thing you can be sure of, it will pass. Not nice while you feel low though. Hope it passes soon. Namo Amida Bu.

    • Yeah thanks for sharing Clare. I’ve been feeling quite similar. I always get a bit of a low point at this time of year, many factors involved for me. Not least of which is a bit of Seasonal Affective Disorder. I love the sun, and when it disappears for days at a time in the winter I feel very sad. Usually though, by the time it gets really cold…[Read more]

Weather here in Kent today is pretty dull but not cold. Usual English weather really. Just about to take a look at The Pure Land course. Havnt been able to do much of it yet as had a virus of some sort and a broken laptop. These things always bring me too the teachings on impermanence and the coming and going of things. Like the clouds in the sky…[Read more]

Hello from Kent. The leaves are falling already but thats okay. I like the changing seasons and winters fine with me too. Quite easy to bare in comparison to this lifes constant obstacle course. All a test. Some times i pass and some times i just plane mess up. I just do my best to reflect and try and reform. Lovely to be a part of this Sangha.…[Read more]

    • Hello, Clare.
The leaves are turning colour up here in Perth and falling in the woodland where I walk my little dog, Ojo. There are also lots of mushrooms and toadstools. Fortunately (after the summer’s foxglove drama) he isn’t interested, but I keep a close eye on him.

As for life – yes, we bombu beings can do well, sometimes, and make a right…[Read more]

    • I am enjoying the beginning of the Autumn colours. Not enjoying the cold so much, especially with my new hair do! Woolly hats are in order! Thanks for sharing Clare.

I managed to get my mug shot on here finally. Now i need to know how to post pics of my kitties on the Sangha pet thread. Can anyone help please. Namo Amida Bu

    • Good to see you! If you go to the bottom of the thread where you’d start writing, there’s a little picture of a picture at the far right on the top (it says insert/edit image) – click on that and it should be straightforward, let us know if you get stuck again!

I really enjoyed your online Dharma talk Kaspalita. Thank You so much. I had feelings of great gratitude and closeness to the Sangha there. I love to hear the story of the Buddha. I looked over to his picture when you were telling it and my whole body tingled. It was nice to feel that joy. Im glad you showed off the cat as i was interested in…[Read more]

Has been a beautiful summers day here in Ken. I sat in my garden and have felt more at ease just being still and quiet and looking at the lovely flowers that have bloomed this year.

I asked a question lately of how i can understand Amitabha? I have since started reading a passage each night of the larger Sutra of immeasurable life.
    Namo Amida Bu

    • Hi Clare – how are you finding the Sutra? I’m interested in your question -is it about how other people imagine/relate to Amitabha, or something abit different?

Although i seem to of managed to let go of a lot of materialism and lost interest in cramming life with activity, i find myself not quite knowing what to do with oneself. Still not found that middle way. Still without this precious path there would be no way. Thank goodness for the blessings of Amida

Yes, the Wolves Of Desire. Reining them is quite tricky as their good at their tricks. I followed a worldly desire recently which ultimately ended up in suffering as they always do eventually anyway. Usually quite quickly even. Felt pretty let down and depressed for a while there. I thought of a teaching i heard recently which reminded me I have a…[Read more]
