Thanks for your comments Kaspa. All makes sense. Can you expand on how i can apply the middle way to this currant situation. This has been a very big teaching for me and very disturbing at times. Still is!. I hope i can learn from this and maybe from the change will come goodness i hope! Namo Amida Bu

Hi All, Having a very stressful time at the moment. All bought on by desire and delusion. I never bargained that a house move would bring up so many emotions but it has. Its too late now and have to see it through. I can only hope a positive comes out of all this upheaval and upset i have caused. I remember a teaching from a monk named Ajahn…[Read more]

    • A good teaching – but let’s not forget how powerful the conditions we surround ourselves with are. The shadow of ‘make do with what you have’ is that it leaves us in troublesome or unhelpful situations, the shadow of ‘go for it’ is that we never land in contentment. The middle way is best!

Still using up mind space on my house move. Nearing the end of the transaction now, if it follows through to the end of course. Nothings certain with anything! Namo Amida Bu

Thanks Kaspa, Those words really ring true. I had forgotten the hassle involved in it. nearly there now though so might as well see it through. Not lost sight of refuge but can definitely see how one could get caught up and lost in sensual desires again. This has taken up a lot of mind space. Will be interesting to see what i can learn from…[Read more]

Weird times at the moment. A big move on the horizon. Emotions swinging from excitement to worry. I keep coming back to Amida and his protection which helps reign in my monkey mind. Which is more so at the moment. Guess its all the uncertainty but then thats life anyway i guess. Namo Amida Bu

    • Yes – a big move can be stressful and put us in touch with the reality of how little control we really do have – only the Buddha is true refuge 🙂

Having a lot of mixed emotions arising at present which are changing very quickly. So not sure where i am at the moment. Cant say there’s much contentment either. Im trying to focus on my freedoms to help put things in perspective and just allow the emotions to be but still a struggle. Namo Amida Bu

Had a wonderful walking meditation in my garden yesterday. Have been doing this lately. Just walking slowly up and down the path. Towards the end I found myself slowing even more until slow motion. My body kind of took over at this point and was deciding where and how to move. Felt like i was floating and was very relaxed. Made me realise that…[Read more]

    • Sounds wonderful. We’ve occasionally been doing this is in the garden as a part of service – the garden is very thirsty at the moment, but it’s still looking beautiful. I find that being out in nature connects me very effectively to Amida…

Very hot hear in Kent today as im sure it probably is a lot of places in UK today. Practiced walking meditation in the garden this morning. Helps to feel more present and in touch with nature. Too hot to sit out for me even in the shade so decided to listen/watch some on line teachings. Just about to read through lesson 7 of the Pure Land course…[Read more]

    • Hi Clare I can concur on that one as I’m also in Kent. Bromley: Biggin Hill and it was blisteringley hot. Cleaning windows was no fun ( my job) and at times t e Laurence crossing the Sinai kept springing to mind

Had a wonderful day at Chithurst monastery on Sunday and joined in with the fund raising celebrations. I try and go every year. There was a period when i felt real contentment and peace as we all walked around the monks holding our flower in a ceremony. It made me realise that i am making some progress on the path and not to doubt so much. Namo Amida Bu

Lovely to read the posts. Especially the visit by Ajahn Vinita and Johnathons retreat. Inspires me. How wonderful that Buddhism is so universal. Namo Amida Bu

Took one of the cats to the vets today to have his anual vacs. Zippy is a tricky one and cryed a lot on the way. I chanted Kuan Shi Yin to him and he seemed to relax and settle in his box. Probably settled me too! Namo Amida Bu

Just got back from a lovely trip to Weymouth. Its definitely warmer down that neck of the woods. Felt the cold easterly wind when i got back to the Kent coast. I use to live in Weymouth for many years and never noticed it then. I feel im tuning in to nature more these days and becoming more aware. Did lots of walking and really enyoy it. Now im…[Read more]

I caught up with a couple of the teachings on face book. Really enjoyed them Satya. Just waiting, being patient and being drenched in Amida’s light particularly struck a chord. With gratitude. Namo Amida Bu

It started out as a beautiful sunny day here in Kent and has now turned to fairly heavy rain. Personally i dont mind either. The warmth of the sun this morning to the very peaceful, relaxing sound of the rain now falling. Namo Amida Bu

I think being a vege/ vegan is a very kind thing one can do. I dont think for a moment that the Buddha would support intense factory farming that goes on in our so called modern times. That being said i was bought up in a hotel restaurant and meat was always on the menu. Never planned to be a vegan it just happened naturally along with giving up…[Read more]

I really enjoyed reading your thread Satya. I seem to have the hung over feeling today that you talked about . Its difficult to manage but i know it will pass. Im glad i am able to rest today as when these feelings arise its good to conserve energy otherwise can become more stressful. Put my feet up with cats and heating today i think. Namo Amida Bu

Ive just had 12 days off A/L. It was all very mixed really. Spent quite a lot of time alone and some time with others. Being alone i really got to notice the changing impermanent mind states. Ranging from contentment to boredom to quite low at times. Being lost in distractions covers these up. I went to a Triratna group in Canterbury last week…[Read more]
