Amida Birmingham is an Amida Shu Buddhist Group led by Reverend Sanghamitra Adrian Thompson. Amida Shu is a community of Pureland Buddhists led by the Amida Order and supported in the UK by the Amida Trust.

We meet on the second Saturday of every month in South Birmingham.

  • Amida Birmingham has become an important part of my spiritual life, a little oasis of Saturday morning peace and stillness while we let the world and its various crazinesses pass by outside for a while. A little piece of loving-kindness in action.

  • Amida Birmingham has been immensely warm and welcoming and has given me an excellent introduction to Pureland Buddhism. I have been supported in developing my practice by a friendly group and the discussions have been thought provoking and reflective. Amida Birmingham has become my spiritual family.

  • I have found our monthly meetings to always have a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. As a person who was new to Buddhism when I first joined our group, the open discussions and chats have helped me to develop my knowledge of the Buddhist way of life and led to me taking refuge with Amida Shu.
